JetBlue also plans to connect Boston to St. Thomas, saying it plans to a fly five nonstop flights a week on the southbound portion of the route. Other Caribbean charter destinations that Jet Blue serves is St Maarten (SXM) and for those of you sailing in the Grenadines, Jet Blue flies into Barbados.

Not the Caribbean, although many people put it in that category, JetBlue flies into the Bahamas (Nassau - NAS) and the Turks & Caicos Islands (PLS).

It's nice to have alternatives :)

Whale Sighting in the Virgin Islands

Sorry, not that type of whale... but this one!

 Seaplane WHALE FORCE ONE

Lynn, from charter yacht Pacific Wave, tells us:
"There’s a great new seaplane service from Antigua and Puerto Rico direct to North Sound BVI.  A company based in New York have brought their Cessna Caravan amphibians down to the beautiful BVI and they are presently offering private seaplane charters – just 60 minutes from Antigua airport and 30 minutes from San Juan airport direct to Gun Creek in North Sound.  They will meet your arriving flight at either airport and then land you on the water right next to Pacific Wave at anchor."
After landing, the pilot will take a taxi to the Customs office on Virgin Gorda and clear his passengers into the British Virgin Islands while the charterers board their yacht and enjoy a welcome cocktail. How cool is that?  What an entrance, you'll make :)

Fly the Whale is a New York-based company that provides amphibious seaplane service from Manhattan’s East River to Cape Cod and countless destinations in between, such as Martha's Vineyard for example. They have now expanded to the Caribbean.

According to their blog:
"This February, Fly The Whale became the first amphibious seaplane operator to land in the waters of the North Sound in Virgin Gorda. We are thrilled to introduce new routes from San Juan, St. Thomas and Antigua directly to the BVI. Whale Force One is enjoying its time in paradise too!"
It's nice to have options.

American Airlines Sale: Come Sailing!

I received this notice in my inbox today from American Airlines...

Just for fun, I plugged in the airports JFK (New York) and STT (St Thomas) for February 10-17, 2011 (Valentine's Day) and came up with a real good price for a direct flight... just under $355 RT.

Notice that it is for dates between January 4 and March 9, 2011 which is a good time to come sailing. Most people are fed up with the winter by then and want to warm up their bones and tan their toes!

This offer expires on December 13, 2010 so start planning... Another benefit is that you would be eligible for our special offer for booking a weeks' charter before December 15th!  Such a deal :)

Give yourself something to look forward to...

Happy Holidays!

Cheap flights to St Thomas April-midJune 2010

Just looking at the American Airlines website for their "Fare Sales & Special Offers" as I noted that they had good deals to Europe so decided to check out flights to St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, too.

Go to their "Fare Sales" page => CLICK HERE Then enter the airport you wish to fly from and put STT as your destination.

Here are a few examples (ONE-WAY):
  • New York (JFK) to St Thomas (STT) = $135
  • Miami (MIA) to St Thomas (STT) = $129
  • Denver (DEN) to St Thomas (STT) = $242
  • Seattle (SEA) to St Thomas (STT) = $275

Note & see other restrictions on AA website:
Fares shown are each way, based on round-trip Economy class travel purchased on AA.com, and are in U.S. dollars. Fares shown are valid for travel Monday-Thursday; other days are subject to higher fares. Fares are subject to change without notice. International fares are subject to government approval.
  • Valid departure: April 7 - June 3, 2010

We are charter specialists for boats and not travel agents who book flights, but we thought that this might be of interest and also an incentive to take a spring sailing vacation.

American Airlines is having a sale for flights to the Caribbean. One that popped up was Miami/St.Thomas for $84! You must begin your flight by November 17, 2009 and book by September 15, 2009.

Check out American Airlines site www.aa.com for details.
  • Click on the Fares & Special Offers link on the left menu,

Most yachts won't be starting their season until November, but if you are in need of a quick getaway and can't wait, there are a few that will be chartering before then.

The catamaran MAROLANGA, is chartering in the Virgin Islands all summer, as is CORUS.

These are just a couple of fine examples, but let us know your details and we'll see what we can come up with :)
