Charter Yacht Aloha Malolo: Diving, Fishing, Family, Sailing Vacations

We recently heard from Eric of charter yacht Aloha Malolo:

Charter Yacht Aloha Malolo - Diving, Fishing, Sailing Vacations
Caribbean Crewed Yacht Charters in the Virgin Islands & Other Destinations

Evelin and I are happy to be pampering our valued guests again this season with new toys, new recipes and a lot more fun.

Last year our new 12-foot trampoline/towable was a tremendous hit with adults and kids. This year our SeaScooter is a great addition to our snorkel and scuba diving program.

With dive gear in sizes Extra Small to XXL (also new last year) and diving and resort diving at no extra cost which goes along with Aloha's policy of "Put Your Wallet Away" charters, we hope guests will enjoy their trip so much that they and their friends will be returning for many years to come.

For those who like fishing, we caught a 4-1/2 foot Mahi on a recent charter (see photo above).  Want to learn to sail... take advantage of my 30+ years of sailing.

There are few sounds as satisfying as the sound of guest's spoons reaching for every last drop of dessert ending a perfect fun filled day and a memorable dinner. This is a sound I hear frequently aboard Aloha. Most guests comment that they would love to take Evelyn home so they may continue the wonderful feasts she serves on Aloha. Thankfully no one has succeeded in these efforts!
Paradise Connections love having charterers aboard Aloha Malolo as we can rest assured that Eric, Evelin, and Salty Dog will take good care of them and they will have an excellent sailing vacation.

We just had a family of four finish up on Saturday and we are eagerly waiting for their comments!

But in the meantime, here are some recent comments:
  • 2010 Christmas Charter:
Eric & Evelin, Thank you so much for guiding us thru the best Christmas vacation/ adventure. From the first dolphin sighting on day one to the manta rays launching themselves out of the water on the last day, Matt's "epic" waves on Virgin Gorda to jumping from the boat with his board, catching waves in Apple Bay -- in his words "the best Christmas present", the toys, trampoline, tubing, wakeboarding and the "James Bond" water scooter... kept three very active boys busy & happy. The scuba was great, we will get some pics to you. And the food was incredible!!! (thank you Evelin!) Mom and Dad Hooper

Eric and Evelin, I had a good time this past week. You guided us to the clearest water and most incredible sights such as the huge sea turtle at alice+ wonderland. It was the best vacation ever! Evelin your food was so good you should be the top chef at the best restaurant in the world! Eric you knew the best coves to anchor in every night and showed us a vacation that I will never forget. I wish you the best calmest water and the best wind on your great adventure around the globe. Thanks for the best vacation anyone could ever ask for! Sincerely, Scott Hooper
P.S. Salty, I hope you find your dolphin friend again some day.
  • 2011 New Year Charter:
We are back safe, sound and VERY happy! It was an amazing vacation and we could not have been happier with the Aloha and its wonderful crew! They were very attentive and accommodating and we enjoyed them thoroughly. They made all of our celebrations very special and memorable, the food was always fantastic, the sailing was a blast and Salty was an added bonus, we were thrilled to have her aboard! ...We caught some skipjack and a 4 1/2 foot Mahi as well! EH
Eric and Evelin and Salty,
What a wonderful vacation and adventure we have had with you! Thank you for all the memorable celebrations! You are wonderful hosts, good luck in all! Thank you for the food the fun and for taking us on this trip! It was all above and beyond. This one will be hard to beat. Hopefully we can make it out and sail with you again, thanks again for everything! Matt, David, Levi

Aloha Malolo is a 65-foot sloop with a crew of two. The yacht accommodates 6 guests in 3 cabins, and 2 more guests can sleep on berths in the salon if requested.

Salty Dog, a golden lab, is optional. Everyone loves Salty, but Eric understands that not everyone is a "dog person" and they are willing to board her during your charter if requested.

Aloha Malolo has lots of toys & activities, such as: waterskis for adults and kids, tube, kneeboard, wakeboard, kayaks, fishing gear, snorkel equipment, floating mats, surfboard, boogie board, TV/DVD in salon, underwater digital camera, kite kayaking, etc.

Eric, owner-operator of Aloha Malolo, is a dive master, plus he has certification to teach resort/discover scuba courses. Seven dives per week are included in their rates for certified divers. Night dives, too! A Discover Scuba course is included for non-certified divers.

Learn to sail... Eric is an ASA sailing instructor and is an excellent choice for either informal training or ASA certification classes.

We like Aloha's philosophy of "Put Your Wallet Away" charters! If this sounds good to you, give us a shout.

Tropical Storm ANA & Hurricane BILL - Yacht Updates

With the threat of TS ANA & Hurricane Bill coming our way, we decided to sail our own boat over to Curaçao but then ANA was forecast to pass to the south of us and thus getting in our way, and as BILL was to miss the islands to the Northeast, we stayed put in St. Martin. ANA became disorganized and then spread out more like a tropical wave.

Contact ParadiseConnections.com to charter catamaran MAROLANGAWe heard from Gus & Marcella (catamaran MAROLANGA). They went to their hurricane hole in Vieques (Spanish Virgin Islands) and had lots of heavy rain & lightning. Their poor cat Sasha hid under a shelf and tried to make himself very small. They stayed there to wait out Hurricane Bill which fortunately gave our islands a wide berth. Marcella wrote today to say that they've "only had some little gusts and some rain. Not too bad…Now we getting a little bit rain from the tail of Bill. Outside are still waves 7-11 feet, so we waiting until tomorrow with sailing to Puerto Rico. Wind we have practically zero."

They are going to go into the boatyard for a little bit for new bottom paint and this and that. Marolanga is one of the few yachts chartering in the Virgin Islands through the summer season.

The trimaran PROMENADE went to their hurricane hole in Virgin Gorda, BVIs. Here's a photo of Bazza & Simeon tying lines up to the mangroves.
Charter Yacht Promenade tying up in the mangroves
Kerry is very happy to be back at their dock now that the storms have safely passed by.

Charter Yacht BLITHE SPIRIT is down in Trinidad where Dominique & Michel are growing tomatoes while in the boatyard!
Dominique growing tomatoes in the boatyard. Contact ParadiseConnections.com to charter BLITHE SPIRIT
Dominique didn't have to tether down her plants as Trinidad is theoretically out of the hurricane zone and Bill was nowhere close.

John & Heidi, owner-operators of the charter yacht ANTILLEAN, are also in the boatyard in Trinidad. No pictures yet, but Heidi says that she has a crop of 30 tomato plants that she's grown from seed. Sounds like there's a little farming competition going on down there :)

Leslie & Charles of PHAEDRUS wrote to us last week... "We just got to NC on Friday and have been busy doing odd jobs, like cleaning the deck & pulling weeds out of the walkway. It's very hot here, but hopefully the temp will go down on Wednesday". Sounds like the equivalent of scraping the hull :)

Charter yacht STORM PETREL with ParadiseConnections.comSTORM PETREL is chartering in New England this summer. Laura is Illinois doing a few house projects and nursing, while Phil is aboard Storm Petrel based in Falmouth, Buzzards Bay. They had a great repositioning trip, taking only 10 days to get there from St. Thomas. Phil's advice for us was: "To come north, just set your autopilot to 355, and enjoy. The spring trip is usually easy, no winds over 30 kts, seas calm... Fall is much more of an adventure!!!!"

So, if you want an affordable, fun charter, aboard a yacht with LOTS of local knowledge of the New England cruising area, look no further than Storm Petrel. Short charters, weekend & daysails, too. Contact Paradise Connections and we'll set you up!

A couple of weeks ago, Eric from ALOHA MALOLO wrote to say that they were "going to the Statue of Liberty today if we can get this RV through the traffic. I miss the ocean and Saltydog but we are visiting many past guests who have invited us to stop by on our trip."

Charter yacht HANALEI BAY is on the hard in Trinidad. We received a call recently from Diane. They miss being on the water but they have a beautiful view of it from their patio in Vancouver BC. They had front row seats for the annual fireworks festival, The Celebration of Light, from their pieds-à-terre.

Kim & Rich on Ukele. Contact ParadiseConnections.com to charter yacht QWESTKim & Rich from the charter yacht QWEST wrote to us from the boatyard in in Fajardo, Puerto Rico where they were working on the boat and getting it ready to leave while they go to the States for a couple of months.

Kim wrote "One of the high points of our summer is the Bean Blossom Blues Fest that we going to in Brown County, Indiana, next month. We'll be spending lots of time playing our ukes and jamming with friends. We don't have any photos (yet), but here's a link to a video of a jam from last year's Bean."

So, back now to Bob & Sheila at Paradise Connections... Due to the recent storms our plans have changed a little, but we intend to pick up our mail soon in St. Thomas (thanks Reefco!) and then sail towards Curaçao. We did Hurricane OMAR last year and we don't want to do that again. Quite a scary night... Especially when you have this boat dragging down on you during the stormy night of a category 3 hurricane!
A little to close for comfort - Hurricane Omar

Nope, don't want to do that again :)

ALOHA MALOLO - Charter Comments

Here are comments we received from recent charterers (family of 5) we had aboard ALOHA MALOLO.

Dear Sheila and Bob,
Capt. Eric and the happy fisherman
Sorry about the delay. I was waiting until everyone could get together to reply but with teenagers flying all over the place it is not going to happen. Anyway, of course you can use any pictures you would like.

We all had a great time! Eric and Evelyn were very friendly, easygoing and accommodating.
Because we had been to the BVI once before on a Catamaran with a crew, we were able to tell Eric about a few places we had remembered and go back to those places. The combination of Eric suggesting places to go and our remembering a few places that we thought were neat made it especially fun. We introduced Eric and Evelyn to 'the bubbly place' on JVD and the tarpon hole on the SW side of Guana Island. They are both neat places where they may like to take future charters.
Aloha Malolo offers divingWe were really happy that Eric accompanied us on our dives and that he was so accommodating about the number of dives that we could do. We ended up diving four times but if it had worked out Eric would have been happy to refill the tanks for a couple more dives.
By the end of the trip we considered Eric and Evelyn more as friends rather than the Captain and cook of the boat. Salty Dog made the trip even more fun! Salty was always well behaved. It was fun to swim with her and we enjoyed her personality.
Everyone loves SaltyThe yacht was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Eric and Evelyn were great about closing hatches as soon as it drizzled and we never had a problem with a wet bunk. We slept like rocks and the boat is very stable so we never had a problem with the boat rocking back and forth too much.
Nap timeThe meals were fantastic! We did not make any special requests figuring that it would be more fun to try Evelyn's favorite dishes. The meals were beautifully presented. Stuart and I enjoyed everything and I was especially impressed with how much the three teenagers enjoyed the meals. Kate has been asking me to recreate some of Evelyn's dishes but of course they fall short. I guess we'll just have to go back. We will also be dreaming about Captain Eric's smoothies as well.
We would be interested in taking another vacation in the future (now that Kate is going to start looking at schools for college it may be hard to get away) and we would use the same crew.
