Marolanga is a 43-foot Catana catamaran, owned and operated by Gus & Marcella, along with ship's cat, Sasha, a beautiful Persian. Marolanga is air conditioned and accommodates up to 6 guests in three cabins, each with ensuite head/shower. Marolanga has a good selection of "water toys" such as kneeboard, wakeboard, tube, kayaks; plus they love having families aboard and have toys for children.

“This has been an amazing trip! We have loved every minute of it. Sailing through the rough seas with the Christmas winds was so exhilarating. As we watched other boats falter in the winds, we knew we were safe under Gus’ steady hand. We all agree that the Indians was our favorite snorkeling area, although we loved all of our snorkeling adventures. Christmas Eve with bagels and lox and champagne was wonderful! However, nothing can top Marolanga’s cooking, barbecue and the poppers on Christmas! It has all been grand!”

Catamaran MAROLANGA - Charter comments - review

We had a family of five recently aboard the charter yacht MAROLANGA, a 43-foot Catana catamaran, and we'd like to share their after-charter guest comments with you.

We just got back from our week with Gus and Marcela and we had a great trip. There are probably a few logistical things we might change next time, but overall we loved the trip. Gus and Marcela were terrific and the Marolanga was a great boat. We would definitely recommend them.

Catamaran MAROLANGA in Virgin Islands all summer

The catamaran MAROLANGA is available for yacht charters all summer in the Virgin Islands with affordable rates. They are an excellent choice for honeymoons, groups of friends, and families.

Gus and Marcella are owner-operators of MAROLANGA, a 44-foot Catana catamaran which is fully air conditioned and accommodates up to 6 guests in 3 cabins, each with ensuite head. Gus is originally from Austria, and Marcella from Germany. They speak excellent English, so don't worry about that. Perhaps you have children who are taking German... this would be a great opportunity for them to practice the language!

Marcella loves to snorkel. Bob & I went snorkelling with her in Christmas Cove last November and she pointed out many things that I missed. She knows where all of her aquatic friends live and hang out.

We received an email recently from Marolanga and they are currently anchoring at Christmas Cove when they are between charters. Marcella said "At snorkeling here in Christmas Cove I am still delighted to see my fishes and rays as a daily relief. There is a spotted Drum here since one year hiding under the same rock, sometimes he is outside and so beautiful to look at with his black and white striped and dotted design. Then I saw some time ago two huge porcupines together, I guess they were in love because normally they are shy and swim away but they weren’t and let me come very close. I love their mouth and their eyes..."

Catamaran MAROLANGA - Guests Charter Comments

This morning we received a lovely email from a family we had aboard the catamaran MAROLANGA this summer (July 2008). Here are their charter comments:

Hi Guys!

Hard to believe it has been 2 months since our trip! We are all still telling friends what a total blast it was. A totally unique vacation experience! The boat was comfortable and Gus and Marcella were wonderful hosts. Very accommodating in every respect. They made every day fun and exciting and the food was awesome. They showed us all the best places and we went where the bigger ship can't, exactly what we wanted.

With their extensive experience in the area, they knew all the best spots. Gus is a very competent and experienced sailor and he made us feel very safe the entire time. Every day was tailored to just what we wanted to do. There was plenty to do for all of us, even if we wanted to do nothing!

We would, without reservation, highly recommend the boat and crew to anyone considering this trip. There are lots of choices available to be sure but we can't imagine having a better time! Gus and Marcella are totally committed to their guests having a great time and they deliver. We plan on doing this again in the coming years.

Thanks for all your help in planning the trip too. The whole process was easy. All we had to do was show up at the marina and the rest was taken care of. How great!

MAROLANGA is one of our favorite charter yachts. Gus & Marcella are such a warm couple. They make you feel very comfortable and welcome aboard their home, Marolanga. And Sasha, the ship's Persian cat, completes the family feeling.

Catamaran MAROLANGA - Recent client comments

Marolanga is one of our favorite catamarans for crewed charters.



We really enjoyed the long Thanksgiving weekend that we spent anchored near Gus & Marcella in Christmas Cove just off of St. Thomas. They are such a warm couple and they love to charter and share their boat, knowledge and islands with their guests. Great for families.

Sasha is a very well behaved Persian cat. We've had people aboard Marolanga who said they are allergic to cats but were pleasantly surprised when they had no adverse reactions to this beautiful kitty.

Dear Sheila & Bob,

It has been almost a full month since our charter on the Marolanga and we are still smiling from the wonderful memories. We would like to share some of our thoughts with you. Our cruise certainly added a fabulous dimension to November 11th, our wedding on Hawksnest Beach on St. John after the cruise which was just like a fairytale.

Gus and Marcella were the most accommodating, friendly, gracious hosts we could have asked for. They always made us feel comfortable and tended to our needs and requests. Their European culinary traditions made mealtime a lovely dining experience. Most days, our charter group enjoyed breakfasts with the Continental variety of breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurts and fruits, but they offered eggs, cereal and American style if we desired as well. Interesting lunches of salads and sandwiches and luscious dinners came out of their galley like magic.

Each day we found ourselves at a new anchorage of indescribable beauty. Some highlights for us: we were personally entertained by Foxy himself on Jost Van Dyke; we were thrilled by the gin clear water for snorkeling and vast array of sea life at the Indians; we were overwhelmed by the natural beauty at the Baths on Virgin Gorda. Wow!! We feel so very privileged!

Before and after our cruise, Bill and I stayed on St. John at Estate Lindholm—a delightful bed and breakfast with comfortable rooms and an incredible view—a place we would highly recommend. The grounds were botanical garden-like with birds, butterflies, tree frogs and such. Just delightful!! Innkeepers, Lauren and Brion Morrisette were the land equivalent to Gus and Marcella.

Also, we would like to thank you for your services at Paradise Connections. We had contacted several charter companies, but you seemed genuinely interested in meeting our needs and communicating with us. We are so glad you did!

Finally, we are all dreaming and talking about our next cruise together. That should speak clearly about how much we loved our trip. We would feel like we were coming back to family with Gus & Marcella.

Bill and I are still glowing in our memories of our wonderful trip and
wedding on the beach. We think of you often, too. We have looked at our
pictures daily and have been working to put a dvd with music together....our

On our wedding day, instead of brunch at Caneel Bay, we had dinner at their
Equator restaurant. We watched the sunset on the deck and dined at a table
where we could see the starlit sky. It was romantic and magical. The food

Dear Sheila & Bob,

Just wanted to take a moment and drop you an e-mail to let you know what a great charter we had with Gus and Marcella. They are the most wonderful people - hard to believe they have been sailing the BVI's for 14 years together. They act like they are still on their honeymoon.

We probably visited 10 or more islands and bays and took a lot of pictures.

Thank you for recommending the Marolanga to us for our charter - it was perfect. Plenty of room on the boat, food was great and spending time with Gus and Marcella was a pleasure. It was so nice not having a firm agenda - we could sleep until 8, have breakfast, snorkel, sail awhile, snorkel again, sail, have lunch, etc. Life is good!

Happy Thanksgiving from Catamaran Marolanga & Paradise Connections

The charter yacht Marolanga, a 44-foot catamaran, told us this cute Thanksgiving story...

John & Mr Smee of Antillean
This story is not about them :)

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird's' mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.  John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The  parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even more rude. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet.  Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer.  The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions.  I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. 

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke-up, very softly, "May I ask what the turkey did?"

Charter Yacht Antillean - Crewed Caribbean Yacht Charters - Virgin Islands Sailing Vacations

Antillean is an owner-operated 50-foot Beneteau sloop.  John Gould (British) is captain and Heidi Wheeler (American) is the chef/mate.  Mr. Smee is the well-behaved, and much loved ship's parrot. Antillean accommodates up to six guests in three cabins (2 Queens, 1 Double) each with ensuite heads/showers.  They have a 12-foot dinghy with 30HP motor, tube, kayak, fishing gear, snorkelling equipment, 20" Flat screen TV with DVD in the salon, floating mats, noodles, etc. Here's a previous post with comments from happy clients we had aboard Antillean.
