Charter New England - Another Sample Itinerary

New England
7-Day Sample Itinerary
Newport to Newport

NOTE: This is just a sample itinerary. Itineraries are tailored to your tastes.

Day 1 - Newport to Block Island
Sail to Block Island, Rhode Island. This is approximately a 3 to 4 hour sail depending on the weather. A beautiful island - a nice place to rent bicycles or mopeds and explore. Go to the Mohegan Bluffs and enjoy the view.

Day 2 - Martha's Vineyard
Sail to Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard. Edgartown has become a fashionable summer enclave for upscale city folk looking to be close to big water when the hotel season starts its engine. It's an old fashioned looking village whose narrow and leafy streets are fringed with gracious historic homes named after their original, seafaring owners. Sailing is a passion here. In mid-July the Edgartown Yacht Club sponsors the modestly-if not definitely-week-long race named "The Regatta". The ocean sailing competition (open to the public) draws more than 100 boats that range from 19 feet to 60 feet.

For those not up to such a tasking challenge, the village is thronged with beaches. Lighthouse Beach is off the entrance to Edgartown Harbor, to starboard; and between Oak Bluffs and the village is the state beach, running for two miles. Both beaches, as you might well expect, get very crowed during the summer.

On Chappaquiddick Island, between the other beaches, is the Cape Pogue Wildlife Refuge. Summer people aren't crowds in this area, so it's a fine place to lose yourself if you're up for an invigorating, scenic hike.

On the mainland - the main island, that is - is another choice hiking ground, especially if you're an avid birder. The Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary is a 200-acre tract owned and operated by the Massachusetts Audubon Society. By the summer the nature trails are ripe with wild blueberry, blackberry and beach plums.

Rent a bike and visit the beaches at Gay Head where you can take a clay bath.

Days 3 & 4 - Nantucket
Sail to Nantucket. You may want to spend a few days here, if you can. Nice shopping, wonderful restaurants and a lovely island.

Rising 100 feet above the sea, Nantucket is fifteen miles long and lays three miles wide at its widest. It is amazing how busy it gets on a dot of land in the Atlantic.
Although there are a surprising number of cars, most people rely on bikes or mopeds for transportation. Nantucket, as you might expect has a great deal to offer in the way of interesting historical sights, and finding your way to them in this town of shaded side streets should prove to be equally enjoyable, if not outright adventurous.

Undoubtedly, one of the more popular stops is the Whaling Museum on Broad Street, just up from Steamboat Wharf. Originally a factory for refining Whale oil, the museum has all the tools of the trade, as well as a full-sized whale skeleton, a whaleboat, and an unparalleled collection of scrimshaw. Lecture tours of the exhibit are offered also.

Besides the shops and galleries that jam the town, fishing charters are one of the most prevalent leisure choices in this town. You will find an unrelenting number of operations to choose from at Straight Wharf.

Swimming and surfing are, of course, favorite activities, and most of the beaches are pleasant for both-particularly Surfside and Nobadeer beaches, while the waves at Sconset can get dangerous. Cisco is a narrow, hence less popular and less crowded.

But being bicycle bound you may also want to explore what the wilder portions of the island have to show you. The picturesque bike paths are outlined clearly. The area is protected by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation which owns more than 7,700 acres of land, chock full of deer, marsh hawks, and the rare broom crowberry.

Day 5 - Wood's Hole
Head to Woods Hole. What's nice about visiting Woods Hole is that the town, though crowded, is compact. Everything can be reached on foot, especially from Eel Pond, at the heart of the village. From the entrance to Eel Pond, at the Water Street Bridge, we'll take a clockwise tour:

Depending on the time of year, you may see one of the 125-foot schooners, the R/V Westward and R/V Corwith operated by the Sea Education Association (SEA) tied up at the main wharf, as you head west on Water Street.

The Community Hall at the Water Street Bridge is a century-old building where you'll find a bulletin board of current events in town. A couple of blocks west is the Yalden Sundial, which, it's claimed, is accurate to within 30 seconds. Here you can synchronize your crew's watches and get a great view of Woods Hole Passage and the Elizabeth Islands at the same time.

Nearby, to your right on the aptly named MBL Street, is the privately operating Marine Biological Laboratory. Limited tours of the laboratories themselves are available with prior arrangements. At the end of Water Street is the popular Woods Hole Aquarium next to the entrance to the National Marine Fisheries Service facility. It's home to 150 species of sea life and a lively pool of Atlantic seals who are always a big crowd-pleaser - particularly at their two daily feedings.

Day 6 - Cuttyhunk
Sail to Cuttyhunk. Cuttyhunk is the most populated of the Elizabeth Islands, and the only one that has a year round community-albeit only 40 people. Many of the families have been here for generations and make their living from the fishing or the tourism industries, which increases the population to about 400 people during the summer. The nearly self-sufficient community shares the island (2.5 miles by 0.75 miles) with deer, rabbit, muskrats, and pelagic seabirds. The waters off Cuttyhunk are superb fishing grounds for striped bass, many of which have been logged as world records.

Cuttyhunk is a dry island (meaning no liquor is sold there), so you'll have to bring your own thirst-quenchers if you want something strong to drink. The Allen House offers casual dining at a reasonable price and with a panoramic view of Vineyard Sound. There's also a bakery in town (sensibly called the Bakery) that serves breakfast and lunch items along with pastries and other goodies.

Day 7 - Newport
Return to Newport in the morning.
(Many thanks Tom Rowe)

Charter New England... Sample Itinerary

New England
7-Night Sample Itinerary
Newport to Boston

NOTE: This is just a sample itinerary. Itineraries are tailored to your tastes.

Day 1 - Newport
Newport is renowned as New England’s sailing hub. Embark the yacht and be dazzled by the beautiful views of this island’s historic waterfront. Bannister’s Wharf is the perfect place for your first taste of New England fare. Spend the evening exploring this delightful spot.

Day 2 - Martha's Vineyard
Before leaving Newport, go for a cliff walk and you’ll be enamored by the beautiful mansions along the route. If there’s time, stop at Castle Hill Inn and enjoy the view from the front lawn. After you return, set sail for Martha’s Vineyard, a longtime haven for America’s elite. The Black Dog Tavern in Vineyard Haven is a must visit — try the chowder.

Days 3 & 4 - Nantucket
One of the best ways to explore Martha’s Vineyard is by bike. Spend your morning cycling about the island. Be sure to stop at the now-legendary Edgartown — the shooting location of the film “Jaws.” Later, hop over to the gray-hued island of Nantucket, which offers a quintessential New England feel. Nantucket’s cobbled streets and charming sea-weathered buildings are home to an assortment of quirky little shops and haunts. One must-buy item is a traditional lightship basket. The Whaling Museum is an interesting place to get a taste of local history and the Toy Boat boasts a stellar collection of classic wooden floatables. In the evening, tickle your taste buds with a selection of New England’s finest fish and seafood at the White Elephant Hotel’s Brant Point Grill, which also has stunning views of the harbor lights.

Day 5 - Provincetown
The yacht will make way for Provincetown early in the morning. Take a cup of coffee on the aft deck to enjoy the picturesque seaside views as you cruise. Upon arrival in Provincetown, disembark to explore this little artist’s heaven, while the crew set up a traditional lobster bake on the beach for an evening of succulent seafood under the stars.

Days 6, 7 & 8 - Boston
One of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston is a proud and exciting metropolis with a small-town feel. The waterfront constantly bustles with visitors, enjoying all the attractions, such as Rowes Wharf, a great shopping spot for local goods and souvenirs, Quincy Market and the famous New England Aquarium. History buffs should head for the Freedom Trail to walk back in time to the beginnings of the Revolutionary War. Spend the last day of your charter in Boston. Be sure to visit the USS CONSTITUTION — the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel, named by first U.S. President George Washington. A leisurely lunch at a classic local haunt like the Union Oyster House, the oldest restaurant in the U.S., is a perfect way to end your journey. Sports fans may want to take in a game at Boston’s famed Fenway Park, home of the Green Monster. The next morning enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board before disembarking.

Charter in New England this summer

New England
America's yachting tradition began in these coastal waters

America is a relatively young nation, but history abounds in New England where the country's first settlers planted roots. From the dark days of Salem's witch trials to the rebellious ride of Paul Revere, New England is rich in antiquity. Through those trials and triumphs, great traditions were born, many of which are still seen and celebrated today.

Cruise the coastal waters of New England and you'll spy classic New England homes clad with gray shingles next to magnificent lighthouses. Pop ashore for an old-fashioned clam or lobster bake. America's yachting tradition began in these coastal waters. The beautiful islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are summer havens for New Englanders who wish to escape the city heat for the relaxed breezes of the northern Atlantic Ocean.

Wander the cobblestone streets while enjoying an afternoon ice cream and pursuing the antique markets and you're sure to fall in love. From the modern metropolis of Boston to quaint fishing villages like Block Island, the best way to experience New England is by sea on board a crewed, luxury charter yacht.

New England is spectacularly beautiful and full of history and charm, making it the ideal location for a summer yacht charter vacation. Its quaint port towns, sandy beaches, romantic islands, small shops and art galleries, and fine restaurants ooze understated elegance. There is a long tradition of fishing and sailing that is apparent at every stop.

New England is an adventure playground for children and parents alike. There is ample of watersports, rock concerts and fabulous food (especially for seafood lovers!). This historically astonishing destination has incredible monuments and you can't just go once to see it all, but you will be more than happy to come back for another sailing vacation.

Summer 2018 Events

Here are a few events you might find interesting. Of course, there are lots of things going on. Just do a quick search for "events in Nantucket 2018", for example, and you'll find sculpture & sandcastle day, Boston Pops concert, film festival, comedy festival, etc. New England also has great kite flying. Catamaran New Years Charters 2018/19 - Virgin Islands

Catamaran Charters for New Years 2018/19

Today we searched the calendars for catamarans who are available for all-inclusive, crewed New Years charters in the Virgin Islands. We're quite pleased that there's still a good selection of yachts to choose from, ranging from a 2-person charter to a party of 10.

This listing is grouped into categories by the maximum number of guests each yacht can accommodate, and then sorted alphabetically. Most catamarans have a flat rate for the holiday weeks.

Please note that, for example, you can book an 8-person boat for a group of 6 people. If it is a flat-rate boat you will have to pay the 8-person rate but maybe you can pickup a couple of friends to join you to share the expense (or a Christmas gift!) or you might have a single person that wants a cabin to themselves so you want to book a boat with four cabins for 6 people.

Questions? No problem...
