Storm Petrel : yacht charter availability

Laura just returned back to Storm Petrel after spending a couple of weeks in the States. They plan to charter in the Virgin Islands through mid June and then they will be heading up to New England for their summer season.

So, if you have the time and would like to come on down for a sail in the Caribbean, Storm Petrel is available from May 14 through June 2, 2007. We have a booking with them for the following week and then they will make preparations and head up north.

If you cannot make it down here this summer, perhaps you'd like to charter with Phil and Laura out of Newport, Rhode Island. Phil is from that neck of the woods and has an incredible amount of local knowledge about this area. It would be a fun trip. Perhaps a 4th of July charter?

Charter Schooner BONNIE LYNN this summer in Maine

After taking the winter off from chartering, Bonnie Lynn has reopened their calendar and they are available for your sailing vacation this summer in Maine.

It would be hard to find a more authentic Maine experience than sailing with Captains Earl and Bonnie Mackenzie on the schooner Bonnie Lynn that they designed and built in Maine. Bonnie Lynn's layout provides flexible accommodations for up to 6 guests in 3 cabins with double and single berths.

Earl's earliest memory is being on his father's lobster boat in Friendship, Maine. He has skippered yachts and work boats since his teens, served 20 years in the Coast Guard Reserves and was co-owner of a boatyard. Bonnie grew up in Michigan, joined the Peace Corps right out of college, traveled a lot and started sailing more than 20 years ago. She is a caring hostess and a very accomplished cook – especially seafood, lobster & chowder.

Each cabin has teak and mahogany paneling. From the main salon you have easy access to the foc'sle, where there is a lounge area and library. Mahogany cabinets grace the luxurious galley. The private air conditioned cabins have hot and cold running water and adjoining heads with showers. The walk-in engine room is state of the art. The wheelhouse and midship's deck both have exquisite antique bronze wheels and pedestals.

She has a lovely on deck mahogany table that seat six guests, plus three double hammocks that extend from the side decks and the foredeck. 'Bonnie Lynn' comfortably accommodates large groups for day sails. She has a sailing dinghy, an inflatable, snorkeling gear, two kayaks, and float mats to enhance a quiet morning spent in a secluded cove. She also has a full mid-ships and foredeck awnings with removeable clear side and front panels that allow guests to be on deck regardless of the weather. There is also an awning while under sail, allowing guests to have protection from the sun if they wish.

SUMMER 2007 RATES:

Bonnie & Earl are wonderful and interesting people. We missed seeing them in the Caribbean this season and hope that they enjoyed their chilly winter in New England :)

Here are some after-charter comments from a few of our clients:

Sheila and Bob - I would have to say it was the best trip yet!!! We had such a great time and Rob took us on totally different dives this time we loved them. Rob and Michelle are so nice and really make your trip enjoyable. Not sure if I am just getting used to diving but I really enjoyed it this time, seems like the more I dive the more I like it. Anyway we had such a great time and we were all sad that it was over. Needless to say we are planning on going again next year. We have to get in as much time as we can before Rob and Michelle get a different boat, but I am sure we will follow them anywhere.. Hope all is well with you and Bob and you had a good weekend. Thank you for checking in and all your help, you always make the planning of this trip easy!!!
Look forward to doing many more with you. Thank you again.
Debra

We had a wonderful time and I am sorry I have not written sooner. As soon as you get back from a vacation, you begin trying to catch up from everything that happened while you were going.

We met the other couple that was with us on Island Skipper for dinner one week after we returned. Everyone was still excited and pleased with the trip. There was no stress, no hassles and no problems. Michelle and Rob were wonderful and gave us a great tour of the Islands. We all enjoyed it and felt like it was a dream. All of us felt the trip was the most relaxing vacation ever. We felt like king and queens with all of the service provided by Michelle and Rob. You could not have picked a better boat or couple for us. We felt like they were friends when we left. Hopefully, Michelle and Rob survived us.

Thanks again for all of your help. We hope to do it again someday.
June

They have not stopped thanking us since we returned! They also had a wonderful time! We can't say enough about Michelle and her abilities with food! Thanks for a great time!
Robert.

CARABELLA - Superb charter motor yacht with a nice price

We have recently received a couple of great after-charter comments from clients we had aboard the motoryacht Carabella that we'd like to share with you.

If you do not know Carabella, perhaps we should tell you a bit about the yacht...

CARABELLA is a 48-foot motor yacht with the American crew of Jerry and Shary Monson, along with their cat, Pippi. Carabella is air conditioned and accommodates 2 guests in their aft stateroom which has a Queen-sized, walkaround berth and ensuite head/shower. For family charters, 2 kids can take the forward cabin (twin berths), and the crew will sleep in the curtained-off dinette. Carabella has a 9.5-foot dinghy with 15HP motor, windglider, snorkel equipment, fishing gear, floating mats, etc. Plus, they have Satellite TV in the salon and guest cabin so you won't miss your favorite shows or sports events while on vacation.

RATE: $6,500/week for 2 guests, all inclusive

Visit these web pages for some more info : BROCHURE and MORE INFO

As promised, here are the comments:
Dear Sheila and Bob,

Awesome vacation! One, if not “The Best” we have ever taken. From the moment Tricia and I boarded the Carabella and were greeted by Jerry and Shary, we knew that we had made the right decision and were clearly on our way to the beginning of a dream vacation.

They spoiled and pampered us everyday as they led us to the most beautiful sites throughout the US and British Virgin islands. During the day, our adventures took us to uninhabited beaches only reachable by boat and numerous coves, caves, snorkeling spots and coral reefs, which were filled with all types of colorful sea creatures, so many, we are still working to identify all the ones that we saw and had crossed our paths.
The daily excursions were thoroughly planned out with us in mind, knowing what our preferences were and understanding the type of vacation that we had sought out. They always kept the weather in mind, trying to bypass any rough seas out of respect for their guests. Their extensive knowledge of the environment, the area, along with excellent navigation skills, they were able to guide us into some very protected anchorages for calm nights. Their enthusiasm and experience as a Charter couple was very welcomed as we observed them and the skills they portrayed daily.
During the evenings, they provided expert guidance and recommendations for some of the hottest night spots, so we could enjoy some of the local beach bars, island beverages (Pain Killers) and experience some of the local traditions along with dancing and fun. Best of all, no worries for us, when we we’re ready to come back aboard, a simple call using the Marine radio is all we had to do and Jerry was on his way to pick us up.

I could go on and on as to the many wonderful experiences we had aboard the Carabella, but will end this reference letter with just a few more comments. The food was excellent and very plentiful. Shary spent a considerable amount of time and took great pride in planning something delicious, well balanced and different for each meal. The Beer was always cold, mixed drinks readily available upon request or simply there for us to make ourselves. One of the most important things of all, the company of Jerry and Shary was thoroughly enjoyable throughout the trip. We would recommend the Carabella and the Crew to anyone looking for an awesome vacation or a dream vacation as we were searching for.. Only a few days back to the ole grind, we are all ready looking forward to a return trip.
And more kind words...
Hello Sheila and Bob,

Thanks for everything! We had one of the best vacations ever!

Jerry and Shary were the perfect Captain and Admiral anyone could wish for.
Thoroughly enjoyable and fun to be around, not to mention all the pampering
and spoiling us on a daily basis. We could tell they take a lot of pride
in what they do and certainly take excellent care of the boat. I doubt if
we would ever board another boat for a vacation like this one, without the
Crew of the Carabella...
So, check out Carabella!

ALASKA Sailing Vacation Yacht Charter Summer 2007

SEA ANGEL - Cruising in Alaska summer 2007

88' Sparkman & Stephens ketch

Enjoy the luxury of choosing your own sailing companions, itinerary and schedule aboard this classic gentleman's yacht. Popular starting points are Juneau, Petersburg and Sitka. Here are two suggested routes:
  1. Pick-up in Juneau. Visit the glacier in Tracy Arm (by way of Stephens Passage) to hear the sound of calving ice fields, view countless water falls and enjoy smooth water. Sail down to visit the bears on Admiralty Island, travel through Frederick Sound where the humpback whales breed, then on to Sitka to visit the historic Russian Orthodox Church and museum. There is a rain forest trail lined with totem poles.
  2. Pick-up in Petersburg. Anchor in Le Conte Bay and visit the glacier by dinghy. Travel through Frederick Sound to see the humpback whales and Stellar sea lions, maybe even killer whales. Anchor off Admiralty Island at Kootznahoo, "fortress of the bear", to view the bears. The next day, visit the small native Tlingit community, Kake and go on to Kuiu Island. The drop-off in Kake or Petersburg.
Whatever the weather conditions, the spectacular scenery is easily viewed from the covered wheelhouse (which can be enclosed with roll-down plastic curtains) or snug inside through the deck saloon's large windows.

Sea Angel's master suite extends the full width of the yacht and is appointed with a walkaround double berth, lady's dressing table, hanging closet and drawers built into the starboard side. To port are identical drawers and closet plus a gentleman's desk. There are 'his and hers' baths separated by a tub/shower.

Additional guest accommodations for four are in two identical ensuite cabins with twin lower singles.

Summer 2007 Rates :
  • $23,500/wk for up to 4 guests, plus all expenses
  • $25,500/wk for 6 guests, plus all expenses
